Current Programs
  • Plymouth Symphony Orchestra  - Performances include a 5 concert subscription series,  a holiday pops concert and our annual Benefit Pops Concert in April.  Most subscription concerts are preceded by On-Stage, a pre-concert chat featuring Music Director and Conductor Nan Washburn and guest artists.
  • Orchestra Canton - Establishing an “orchestra-in-residence” at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill had been proposed several years ago and inspired the formation of Orchestra Canton, now entering its third season.  In addition to "casual classics" and pops performances, Orchestra Canton also hosts an annual “Fusion Festival” – a weekend long festival of a particular culture, including dance and instrumental workshops open to the public.  Orchestra Canton is administered by the PCSS and is a separate performing ensemble.
  • CLASSical Music Outreach/Koncert for Kids   This program in its 12th year in Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, serving every 3rd and 4th grade student in the district plus select private and parochial schools.  Students receive a series of in-class visits from orchestra musicians; the program culminates in a 4th grade concert.  Since 2004, this program has been implemented in the Wayne-Westland Community Schools, serving every 3rd and 4th grade student in that district as well.
  • The Celebration Youth Orchestra (CYO) is the youth orchestra supported by the Plymouth Canton Symphony Society.  The CYO is dedicated to challenging and inspiring students through high level ensemble training and the performance of original repertoire.  CYO begun in September 2003, this year the orchestra consists of four ensembles comprised of over 55students – Celebration Strings for young players ages 9 and up; Celebration Sinfonia for intermediate string players; the Celebration Flute Choir and the Celebration Symphony, for the most advanced students in all sections.  In addition to two CYO performances each season, the Sinfonia and Symphony have an annual opportunity to play “side-by-side” with  the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra.
